Shaun Alexander Racks up 201 Yards Rushing

Shaun Alexander racked up 201 rushing yards last night in their win over the Packers. It was the fourth most rushing yards in a Monday night game. Coincidently, he also owns the record for the fourth most yards gained in a single game. In 2001 Shaun Alexander gained 266 yards when Seattle played Oakland.

Just FYI here are the top 5 all time leaders in yards gained in a game:

  1. 278 Yards by Corey Dillon – Cincinnati vs Denver (10/22/00)
  2. 275 Yards by Walter Payton – Chicago vs Minn (11/20/77)
  3. 273 Yards by O J Simpson – Buffalo vs Detroit (11/25/76)
  4. 266 Yards by Shaun Alexander – Seattle vs. Oakland (11/11/01)
  5. 251 Yards by Mike Anderson – Denver at NO (12/3/00)

I wonder if anyone will ever break 300 yards?

I think Bo Jackson probably would have broken the 300 yard mark if his carreer had not been cut short, what do you think?

Wow! Vince Young off to a great start!

Wow, Vince Young has 4 starts and 4 wins! One can only wonder what Tennessee’s record would have been had Vince Young started the whole season.

Yesterday, Vince taught the rest of the league a lesson that they will need to keep in mind the rest of his carreer:

“Don’t ever count a Vince Young Quarterbacked team out!”

Yesterday, the Titans were down 21-0 in the fourth quarter and came back with 24 fourth quarter points to win the game against the Giants. Vince Young had a huge fourth quarter and showed us all how important the QB position is and how important a winning attitude is.

Barring injury it is likely that Vince will have an impressive highlight reel from his NFL carreer. To get a glimpse of what that might look like, you can just go back and take a look at some of the highlights from his college carreer by enjoying the video below:

2006 MLB NL MVP

The 2006 National League MVP was awarded to Ryan Howard of the Philadelhia Phillies. He had 58 home runs this year, which is the most in MLB since Barry Bonds hit 73 homeruns in 2001.

Ryan Howard beat out the 2005 NL MVP Albert Pujols who came in second. Ryan had 20 first place votes and 12 second place votes which gave him 388 points. Albert Pujols had 12 first place votes, 19 second place votes, and one third place vote which gave him a total of 347 points.

In case you were wondering, the MLB MVP awards are given out by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. I am not sure what the details are for the voting process.

Anyway, congratulations to Ryan Howard for a great year and for winning the 2006 MLB NL MVP award!
