This article made me a little misty eyed. It may be terribly sentimental, but I just have a soft spot in my heart for the nice guys of this world. I’m married to one, even. I wish the Joey Cheeks of this world would get more press.

Amen to that! After donating his gold medal winnings he turns around and donates his silver medal winnings. Wish he could win more. What a positive role model!

Joey Cheeks has earned the right to be the face and conscience of the US Olympic Team. Scratch that….make that the face and conscience of the Olympics period. In an era of self promotion and greed, he truly stands out. His family must be proud of him, and he is one Olympian that I can truly say makes me proud to be a fellow American. The world needs more athletes, more people, like him.
