American League wins MLB All-Star Game on Ichiro Suzuki homer

Ichiro Suzuki led the American League to a 5-4 victory over the National League in Tuesday night’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Suzuki was named the MVP of the game, and he deserved it, since he hit the first EVER All-Star Game in the park home run. Even though this is his seventh All-Star game since joining MLB in 2001, this is the first game where he has made a major contribution to the outcome.

So, fans, what’s your opinion? Was Ichiro Suzuki the MLB All-Star Game MVP? Or did your favorite get passed over?

It’s Official Mavs’ Dirk Nowitzki Is Named The 2006-2007 NBA MVP

Today, Dallas Mavericks Center Dirk Nowitzki was the first European player ever named NBA MVP. Dirk certainly had an excellent regular season. From Tim Duncan to Kobe Bryant you could have made a case for quite a few players being right for the trophy. However, Dirk really did have a great year.

Dirk’s Dallas Mavericks won 67 games (not many teams have done that). He scored 24.6 points per game, had 8.9 rebounds per game, 3.4 assists per game, and shot over 90 percent from the free throw line. Not bad…

A lot of you have been making your case for who should win on this post. Now that it’s official what do you think? Should Dirk have won?

Is Dwayne Wade the 2007 NBA MVP?

Dwayne is probably my favorite player to watch in the NBA right now. He just has a certain quiet confidence about him that I really like. He has been injured, so who knows how he will do in the playoffs, but should he be this year’s MVP? Check out this video:

2006 MLB NL MVP

The 2006 National League MVP was awarded to Ryan Howard of the Philadelhia Phillies. He had 58 home runs this year, which is the most in MLB since Barry Bonds hit 73 homeruns in 2001.

Ryan Howard beat out the 2005 NL MVP Albert Pujols who came in second. Ryan had 20 first place votes and 12 second place votes which gave him 388 points. Albert Pujols had 12 first place votes, 19 second place votes, and one third place vote which gave him a total of 347 points.

In case you were wondering, the MLB MVP awards are given out by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. I am not sure what the details are for the voting process.

Anyway, congratulations to Ryan Howard for a great year and for winning the 2006 MLB NL MVP award!
